Why people are donating to Planned Parenthood now more than ever

With Donald Trump and Mike Pence heading to the White House, many women are concerned about the future of Planned Parenthood. Now more than ever Americans are coming to terms that abortion rights and other reproductive related services could face a major loss of funding if pro-life supporters get a leg up the next four years. In the wake of the election, pro-choice supporters have decided to take matters into their own hands. Donations to the non-profit organization have skyrocketed since November 9th, including a hefty $10,000 gift from Katy Perry. Giving has gone viral among men and women on social media. Planned Parenthood has reported receiving over 80,000 donations nationwide. Thank you so much! We’ve been blown away by the support we’ve received. Many people are donating in Clinton or Pence’s name. #WeWontGoBack — Planned Parenthood (@PPact) November 12, 2016 Read more about the donation surge to Planned Parenthood…

Will birth control ever be a shared responsibility with our men?

Women have been taking the pill since the 1950s, but men haven’t been able to have a similar version of contraceptive — at least until now. In fact, after 320 men reported that they experienced side effects like acne, moodiness, and a raised libido. The study has halted. However the injection appeared to work by giving me synthetic testosterone combined with progestogen, which is a hormone found in the pill. This reduces sperm production dramatically. Male contraceptive side effects seem minor to those from the pill us women take including anxiety, weight gain, nausea, headaches, and blood clots. So would her pill make it to market if it were released today? Share your thoughts with us on Twitter. Use hashtag #GoddessCouncil

How to stay fired up about your workout as the weather cools down

So the weather is cooling down, but that shouldn’t pause your runners momentum. There’s a myth that running in the cold is bad for your lungs. There are risks to running during fall and winter weather, especially for those who live with asthma or any pre-existing lung condition. Cold weather puts less heat stress on the body as opposed to hot summer body which makes the body tired. Getting a runny nose is just a natural reaction to the weather and can simply be solved with a pack of tissues tucked away. In fact most of getting over your winter running troubles is all about more of these things.\r\n\r\n\r\nDress warm… ahem, layers\r\nDressing for a cold run is no different from dressing for the winter’s coldest morning — just add layers! Start from head to toe. Wear two pairs of socks or wool socks that aren’t prone to absorbing water or…

Why trainers are saying that nuts are the best post-workout snack

Working out on an empty stomach is a no-no. What goes in before you get busy busting a sweat is just as important as what you use to re-fuel your body after your workout. Two things you’ll probably want your first post-work out snack to be is light and quick. That’s why trainers will tell you that eating nuts is a great way to fill your body’s hunger as well as its nutritional needs after exercise. The top two on trainer’s list are almonds and cashews. While they’re both in the nut family, the two benefit our bodies in very different ways, yet hold the same purpose of replacing some of the energy we lose during a workout.\r\nAlmonds\r\nThey taste great and are a no mess, no fuss kind of snack. They don’t have to be roasted or salted — naturally tasty! This is perfect for on the go gym goers…

Going vegan one day a week is good for your health & your wallet

Taking one day out of the week to practice a meatless diet is more about you’ll be can adding to your diet rather than what you take away. Generally households choose meat as the main dish of their meals. Switching to a plant based diet once a week is an opportunity to fill your plate with more vegetables, more grains, and legumes that provide nutritional value that your body may not always receive from meats like fiber, potassium and vitamin B6. You can also find solace in the idea that by going meat free just one day a week could help protect the environment and may contribute to decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.\r\nHow it helps your health\r\nSubtracting meat from your diet is less about what you’re taking away, and more about what you can add to your meals. More vegetables, fruit, and grains protects your body against heart disease and stroke. A…

5 things you shouldn’t be afraid to show at work

It’s no secret that women have struggled to seek equality in the workplace against male counterparts. Let’s face it! The code of conduct for women in the workplace is different from it is for men and most working women can attest to that. Women are expected to look and act a certain way in order to excel at work and the ones who don’t are often overlooked for any achievement. It’s even been suggested that women obscure their gender profiles online in order to avoid gender bias in the professional world.\r\n\r\nAs women professionals around the world protest this type of misogyny and the notion that they can’t be who they are in order to be successful at work, we’re here to tell you about five things you should never be ashamed to show at work.
