5 daily mantras to remind yourself how great you’re doing

Is this you? You’re having a good day until a series of negative thoughts or events come at you out of nowhere from co-workers, friends, or family. Now all that positive energy you were storing for the day has been pushed back by bad news. Remember, focusing on the positive things you have going on is the best way to pull yourself out of a mid-day rut. Here a five ways to start to redirect your days energy to positivity that will make you feel like you can take on anything.\r\n\r\n \r\nI am happy and healthy.\r\n\r\n \r\nI am getting better every day.\r\n\r\n \r\nI am good enough.\r\n\r\n \r\nI am fearless with my creativity.\r\n\r\n \r\nI am in control of my destiny.\r\n\r\n

Start… And Start Again

\r\n\r\nMany of us set out on a quest to conquer weight, smoking, or even procrastination. And often, after a few months of attempting to overcome our bad habits, or after a few ‘starts,’ we find ourselves stuck, discouraged or anxious. But it helps to remember that a start, is just that: a start. It is not the end. What matters most is that you begin wherever you are right now. If you fall back into old patterns, it’s simply another chance to start again. Every day, in fact, can be seen as another time we start again.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nHere’s what I mean:\r\n\r\nThoughts lead to feelings.\r\n\r\nFeelings influence behavior.\r\n\r\nBehaviors determine outcomes.\r\n\r\nOutcomes set belief systems.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nEven as our bookstores become filled with medical, technological and psychological answers to what happens and how to manage the emotional aspects of our lives, the reality is change cannot be accomplished without action. And action means starting where you are…

Three Simple Steps to Keep Your Spirits High

Summer vacation may have given you a great boost, but how do you keep that level of enthusiasm? Check out these three steps that will help you sustain your happiness and joy throughout the increasing pace of the Fall season.\r\n\r\n Practice Daily Affirmations\r\n\r\nAn affirmation is essentially a positive thought. We are bombarded with judgmental thoughts, negative imagery, and our own self doubts on a daily basis. Beginning and ending your day with affirmations is a great way to help release negative thought patterns and ground yourself in the present moment.\r\n\r\nOur affirmations will be different depending on our needs, but some major themes for this time of year are: balance, grounding, clarity, focus and serenity. So if you’re someone who tends to procrastinate for instance, then your affirmation might be: “I am focused and ready to begin my tasks.” If you are feeling scattered, try repeating to yourself: “I release chaos,…

How self motivation & self love can you set you up for more success than anything else

The Power of Affirmation and Setting Ourselves up for Success\r\nMany of us would probably agree that most diet and exercise programs fail. In fact, American statistics show that as many as 95% of people that lose weight gain it back within 5 years. Getting healthy involves so much more than a quick diet or exercise fad. Beyond just diet or exercise, we’re taking about a healthy living program. And one that is going to produce lasting results must begin with the right kind of motivation. We can all get pumped up enough to start a new diet or exercise program, but more often than not, this excitement quickly falls by the wayside as time goes by.  Accomplishing any goal requires a mental commitment – first and continually foremost.\r\n\r\nOne of the simplest ways to stay excited about a health program is through repeating daily affirmations.  Affirmations are a powerful tool to reprogram our thinking. The…

Change your routine, Change your life! Inspired by Fantasia Barrino

You name the diet, I have most likely tried it. I have attempted every fad diet, cleanse, and latest exercise trend. That was my mistake. I was looking for a quick fix to “fix” my health and my body. But what works for optimal health is a lifestyle change. I learned to change my daily routine in order to improve my health. I traded sugar-enhanced juices for water, incorporated the gym into my routine and made other healthy adjustments. I had the pleasure of attending a press preview for the Broadway show “After Midnight” starring Fantasia Barrino, Dule Hill, Adriane Lenox, and Musical director Wynton Marsalis. I sat down with Fantasia and we talked health. We began with the obvious. The Grammy winner lost a total of 50 pounds after giving birth to her son Dallas Xavier in 2011. “I started out walking,” Fantasia began, “I actually liked just getting…
